Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, will introduce regular scheduled commercial Airbus A380 services to Osaka (KIX) in Japan on 28 October 2018*. The deployment of the double-decker aircraft represents a capacity increase of 38%, and means that travellers will enjoy the comfort of an A380 to and from two Japanese gateways, as the flagship aircraft already operates daily from Narita International Airport. Following a number of improvements aimed at enhancing operational efficiencies, Etihad was able to reduce the amount of fuel consumed by its aircraft by over 62,000 tonnes of fuel. The result represents a 3.3 per cent improvement from the year before, and is the equivalent of 850 flights between Abu Dhabi and London.

A new codeshare pact has been forged between Etihad Airways and Swiss International Air Lines.

Etihad Airways will have its EY flight code on SWISS services between Geneva and Zurich, two key gateway cities in Switzerland from Abu Dhabi.

SWISS will market its LX code on Etihad Airways’ service between Zurich and Abu Dhabi, offering its passengers codeshare flights to and from the UAE’s capital city.

Thai Airways International (THAI) says the limit on waist sizes for passengers, and ban on carrying infants on laps, in business class on its two Boeing 787-9 aircraft is a consequence of the installation of seat belt airbags for safety.
