Abu Dhabi: The major international news website CNN.com has named Abu Dhabi among its Top 10 destinations for 2015. The emirate is ranked alongside other desirable locations including Milan, the Bahamian Coast and Downtown Los Angeles.

The site tells its users that Abu Dhabi city and its skyline are about to get a lot more inspiring as the emirate bids to become the cultural capital of the Middle East.

“At the heart of Abu Dhabi’s reinvention is the 24,000-square-meter Saadiyat Island Cultural District,” says the website. “This intellectual playground is set to house the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi in 2017, the Zayed National Museum in 2016 and, if all goes according to plan, the Louvre Abu Dhabi – the first Louvre Museum outside Paris, by the end of next year.”

The Louvre Abu Dhabi, designed by Pritzker prize winner Jean Nouvel is due to open on Saadiyat Island in December 2015.
