'Arctic Sentinels' in Dubai

Ahead of COP21 in Paris in November 2015, Alliance Française Dubai holds every month a series of cultural events and conferences around the Climate Change theme. Aiming to contribute in raising awareness about the challenging issues of global warning, Alliance Française Dubai invite Dubaians in September and October to watch, listen and debate.

 

Sept 16 til Oct 31 - Photo Exhibition 'Arctic Sentinels' by French Photographer & Journalist Nicolas Mingasson.

Nicolas Mingasson turns his photographer’s gaze towards people, men and women who found themselves in extreme situations. His works are from Bosnia, Afghanistan and Tibet. For the past 10 years however, Nicolas Mingasson gave his life and energy to Arctic. From January to September 2008, beyond the Arctic Circle, he worked on a series of portraits of emblematic characters while sharing nothernmost populations lives. From his ethnical and photographic exhibitions, ‘Arctic Sentinels’ have seen the light. Through this work, Nicolas Mingasson tries to set a meeting point between these populations living at the edge of the liveable world and us all. They are our sentinels, the first ones to deal with climate changes and their frightening effects.

This show is part of the Climate Change series of events initiated by Alliance Française Dubai ahead of COP21 in Paris in November 2015.

Where: The show is exhibited in two venues. Photos in black & white are shown at Alliance Française Dubai, Oud Metha; photos in colour are shown at Plantation, Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach - The Walk, JBR.
