Taddamon, the Corporate Social Responsibility programme initiated by Millennium Hotels and Resorts MEA, one of the fastest growing hotel management companies in the region, has positively increased donations during the holy month of Ramadan. The company recently collaborated with BNI UAE (Business Network International - BNI is the world’s largest referral organization), and hosted a charity Iftar at Millennium Airport Dubai. Organized by BNI members in the UAE, the charitable Iftar raised a phenomenal amount of AED 65,000/- to donate to Al Jalila Foundation’s basma Campaign, a part of Millennium Hotels & Resorts MEA’s CSR initiative Taddamon. The Taddamon programme, which means ‘solidarity’ or ‘unity’ in English, is part of the Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility.

Attended by more than 350 members of the BNI Network along with their families, friends and colleagues, the event garnered a lot of goodwill with a private auction held to add to the funds already raised through profits from the Iftar. The auction in itself garnered AED 25,000/- bringing the total amount raised to AED 65,000/-

Embracing the spirit of giving, Millennium Hotels and Resorts MEA has partnered with Al Jalila Foundation since February 2018 resulting in the launch of the Taddamon programme that encourages guests staying at participating Millennium hotels the option to donate AED 5 to the non-profit organization. This year, participating properties have also pledged to donate AED 5 on every Iftar sold during the Holy Month of Ramadan to the Foundation’s annual fund-raising Ramadan campaign, basma. All the proceeds collected during the campaign will be used to support the Foundation’s pediatric programme Farah (happiness) to bring smiles to the faces of children with life-threatening diseases or debilitating illnesses.

Kevork Deldelian, Chief Operating Officer of Millennium Hotels & Resorts in the Middle East, said, “The extensive campaign planned for the Holy Month reflects the group’s commitment to its CSR strategy. The holy month of Ramadan is known for celebrating its spirit of interacting with the community and embracing the act of giving. We would like to thank BNI UAE for their association with Millennium Hotels and Resorts MEA in helping us play a role of giving back to the community.”

Bijay Rajnikantt Shah, National Director, BNI UAE, said, “It is the first time in the 15 year history of BNI in the UAE that we have organized a fund-raising Iftar during the holy month of Ramadan. We are glad we chose to partner with Millennium Hotels and Resorts MEA for this event. It was through Millennium Hotels and Resorts Taddamon campaign, we could help the less fortunate and deliver a positive impact in their lives.”

Sulaiman Baharoun, Director of Partnerships & Sustainability, Al Jalila Foundation, commented, “We are grateful to our partners, Millennium Hotels and Resorts MEA and the community members who came forward to support our Ramadan campaign which will go a long way to make a difference in the lives of sick children in need.”
