Global Village 2016-2017

Global Village is the largest seasonal cultural extravaganza in the region that offers visitors an amazing array of festivals, shopping and entertainment in an open-air theme park.
This entertainment and shopping destination is open from November through to April and hosts over 70 participating countries presented in over 36 pavilions, with more than 50 fun rides and 26 restaurants offering food from around the world.

Hatta Honey Festival

Hatta, renowned for its majestic mountains, also has a reputation for another lesser-known activity – honey production. This year marks its first official honey festival where professionals in the beekeeping and honey production industry come together to improve honey production. 25 exhibitors will showcase their varieties, experts will deliver talks and scientific sessions in the field of beekeeping, and the quality of honey varieties will be verified by a specialised committee. Visitors will also be able to buy a variety of honey and honey-based products to support local production.

Virgin Radio RedFestDXB

02 February - 03 February 2017

Get ready party people, Dubai's critically acclaimed music festival, RedFestDXB, will take over the city for the fourth time running. Hip-hop sensation Sean Paul will headline the first day of RedFestDXB 2017. He’ll be joined by American rapper G-Eazy, Australian electropop duo The Veronicas and emerging singer/songwriter Daya. Day two will be headlined by none other than former Disney superstar, Demi Lovato. She will be joined by the hugely popular Tove Lo, Alessia Cara and Mike Posner.

The festival provides some of the best street food vendors across the Middle East, with plenty of eye-catching interactive installations and activations. There is always plenty to do across the two days. And this year, organisers are 'guaranteeing' to be 'even bigger and better than ever before'.

Omega Dubai Desert Classic

The Omega Dubai Desert Classic is a PGA European Tour sanctioned event featuring a $2.5 million prize pool. It is held early every year at the Emirates Golf Club's Majlis Course, and it is promoted and organised by the umbrella organisation Golf in Dubai. The Omega Dubai Desert Classic attracts some of the biggest names in golf. Tiger Woods has featured at the event six times since 2001 and has won it twice. However, the most successful golfer at this event has been Ernie Els who has played in 12 different years and has won the competition three times. The youngest player to walk away with the trophy was Northern Ireland golfer Rory McIlroy who was just 19 years old when he won in 2009.

Mary Poppins

Watch Dubai’s talented little ballet dancers from Turning Point Youth Ballet perform an enchanting rendition of Mary Poppins. We are all familiar with the extraordinary nanny who can pull out anything she needs from her magical bag to save the day.

In this ballet production, little Jane and Michael go on an adventure with Mary Poppins where they dance on rooftops, fly kites, discover penguins serving lunch and meet a bird woman with all her birds. Polo Masters Cup 2017

Held under the umbrella of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series, the Polo Masters Cup is a recent addition to the polo events calendar in Dubai, with the first edition held in February 2015. This is the second match of the 2017 series, which is played under the banner of the Hurlingham Polo Association. With a 14-goal handicap, this is a mid-level tournament.

This will be an exciting event for polo enthusiasts and general sports fans alike, as talented athletes exhibit superior horsemanship in a battle to win the cup. Sandstorm Marmoom Challenge

Get up close to the Dubai desert like never before at the Sandstorm Marmoom endurance race and obstacle course. With a 5km and a 10km option, you’ll cross through rocks, sand, water and mud as you run, jump and crawl through this fitness challenge. You may even cross paths with a gazelle or an Arabian oryx as you battle up sand dunes and cross through lakes.  

Participants will receive a t-shirt and multipurpose headwear to wear during the race, along with an electronic timing chip system and gifts from the event’s sponsors. Prizes are available for the top finishers, so gather your friends and start training.

Beach Run Series 2017

Everyone is invited to the New Balance Beach Run Series presented by Daman Activelife. Whether you are a fitness freak, sunbather or social butterfly, this event will have plenty of activities that catch your interest. The Festival Village will have a carnival-like atmosphere with entertainment including food and music. The run itself is a non-timed event taking place on the sand. All registered runners will get a special New Balance running t-shirt, and those who finish will receive a medal. Families can complete the 1.8km together.
