Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE, has partnered with iconic New York fashion designer, Diane von Furstenberg, to introduce new, limited edition cabin crew scarves and ties as part of its 15-year anniversary celebrations at Louvre Abu Dhabi.
The stylish new accessories will be worn by the airline’s cabin crew throughout the month of November to celebrate the 10-year partnership between Etihad Airways and Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The scarf and tie collection was designed by Diane von Furstenberg and inspired by the Yas Marina Circuit race track. There are three distinguished patterns for the various cabin crew positions on board, chosen to match the airlines colour pallet; bold yellow for cabin managers, purple for cabin crew and white for Food and Beverage Managers.
Diane Von Furstenberg said: “Formula One is such an elegant event and I was thrilled to collaborate with Etihad Airways on this exciting project. The geometric pattern of the scarf was inspired by the Grand Prix racetrack and there are so many layers of meaning to the colours. Purple is the colour of royalty and the orange is inspired by the sand because what is more beautiful than a sunset in the desert. I hope the cabin crews feels very proud to wear the scarf. It reflects everything Etihad is about – elegance and style.”
Tony Douglas, Group Chief Executive Officer, Etihad Aviation Group, said: “We are thrilled to be launching these limited-edition cabin crew scarves and ties in collaboration with world renowned fashion designer, Diane von Furstenberg, here at Louvre Abu Dhabi. Not only are we launching it to commemorate 10 years of Formula 1 racing in the capital, but it also coincides with our 15-year anniversary and that’s what makes this collaboration so special to us.”
The ’15-year anniversary’ event was jointly hosted by Etihad Airways and influential fashion icons such as Joan Smalls and Liv Tyler, and attended by some of the UAE’s most influential figures and global fashion and lifestyle media.
IMG supermodel Joan Smalls was selected to unveil the scarves via a model diary video and photo shoot, shot on location at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. As a part of the reveal, Ms Smalls was selected to host the reveal event and to take part in Etihad Airways’ Model Diaries series, which has featured supermodels such as Chanel Iman, Nick Bateman, Shanina Shaik and more.
Liv Tyler is a famous actress with a strong family link to Formula One as her father Steven Tyler’s band, Aerosmith, performed the closing concert at the very first Formula One event that took place in the Yas Marina Circuit 10 years ago.
