Nadine Kanso, the Lebanese designer who has been successfully championing Arabic calligraphy in women’s jewelry, has now turned her attention to men’s jewelry. In collaboration with designer Samer Al Ameen, Kanso’s jewelry brand Bil Arabi will launch its first men’s jewelry line in early February 2015, featuring bracelets, necklaces, cufflinks, and rings in silver.

Started in 2006, Bil Arabi (meaning In Arabic) has come to be known for its designs inspired by Arabic letters. Kanso has translated her love for the Arabic language and calligraphy into unique pieces of jewelry for men by making use of Al Ameen’s contemporary approach to traditional objects. Apart from sharing the same hometown (Beirut), both designers have a common goal: expressing their rich cultural legacy through their works, and both have also dabbled in different fields apart from art and design—Kanso in photography and Al Ameen in advertising.

“I have collaborated with Al Ameen for the men’s line to bring a new flair to the collection, as I believe that he has a strong design vision and aesthetic,” Kanso told Style.com/Arabia/Men. “He loves Arabic calligraphy and has created a typeface exclusively for the Bil Arabi men’s jewelry line. We see eye-to-eye and this is very important when one collaborates with other designers.”

The collection will be showcased at Sauce Rocks, Dubai.
