Dubai is already home to the world’s tallest tower and biggest mall and even the highest scoreboard during the World Cup.

And now it has broken yet another Guinness World Record, for a 12,000-piece puzzle created in celebration of the Year of Zayed.

The wooden jigsaw features the Year of Zayed logo and spans an area of more than 6,000 square metres in the Uptown Dubai district within Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) free zone.

"The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was a visionary leader of rare perception. He was confident, charismatic, encouraged the continuous pursuit of excellence and made bold decisions in the face of uncertainty," said Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman, DMCC.

The UAE is the result of his ambitious vision, he added.

“At DMCC, it is our hope that with this world record achievement, we have shown our support for the national project and gratitude for the inspiring Founding Father of the UAE," said Mr Bin Sulayem.

The jigsaw pieces will be recycled by Dubai Municipality.

"Dubai, and the UAE, have become renowned for breaking records and they continuously raise the bar in new and exciting ways. This record is a reflection of the admiration the country has for its inspiring Founding Father,” Kevin Southam Official Adjudicator, Guinness World Records, said.

“We would like to congratulate DMCC on this accomplishment," he added.
