The country has released a national policy on the space sector, to guarantee positive results in its short and long term goals, he added.

The UAE counts on its space sector to be a key factor in the development of its scientific and technological abilities, which will ensure its place among the world’s advanced countries, Al Rumaithi noted.

The development and issuance of legal frameworks and regulations that organise the space sector in the UAE are in line with the policy of comprehensive and consistent strategies, as set t in the National Agenda of UAE Vision 2021, and the higher policy for science, technology and innovation, as well as Abu Dhabi Vision 2030, he explained.

Prince Dr. Turki Bin Saud Bin Mohammed Al-Saud, President of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), referred to the accomplishments of the city in the space sector.

He confirmed that KACST has taken on the role of a space agency in Saudi Arabia, as it has been conducting many activities related to the space sector for more than 17 years, especially in the development of satellites.

The Congress aims to support the region’s ongoing space projects and initiatives. It also aims to establish the region as a central contributor to the global industry of space exploration through its support for pioneering projects, space education and research, commercial space applications and scientific and commercial missions.
