Prospects of development of Kazakhstan’s transport and logistics system discussed in Dubai

International investment forum “SILKWAY”: Creation of new logistics possibilities for trade between Europe and Asia” will be held in Dubai on March 3, 2015.

The organizers of the Forum are JSC “National company “Kazakhstan temirzholy” and global marine terminal operator DP World.

Askar Mamin, President of JSC “National company “Kazakhstan temirzholy” will address the leaders and representatives of more than 100 companies and organizations from 15 countries and answer questions of participants.

Its expected that during the Investment Forum important projects for the development of transport and logistics system and the realization of the transit potential of Kazakhstan with the participation of foreign investors will be discussed. The main purpose of the Forum is to attract attention of international investors to Kazakhstan as the Eurasian transport, logistics and business hub, proposed by the President of the State Nursultan Nazarbayev in the context of the revival of the Silk Road.

Today, according to expert estimates, the volume of trade in the region will increase from 800 billion. US dollars in 2014 to 1.2 trillion. US dollars in 2020, while the volume of freight traffic between China and Europe - up to 170 million tons.

In view of the trends and the growing volume of trade flows between China, Russia, the Gulf countries and the European Union, in Eurasia develops new architecture of transport corridors involving Kazakhstan.

The development of special economic zones “Khorgos - Eastern Gate”, “Seaport Aktau” and other transport and logistics projects will give a new impetus to the expansion of transport links and strengthen trade and economic relations in the region. JSC “National company “Kazakhstan temirzholy” is about to comlete transportation and logistics projects with a total investment of $ 36.3 billion by 2020. This will speed up the implementation of transport and transit potential of Kazakhstan.

The speakers of two panel sessions: “Development prospect of New Silk Way: continental bridge between Asia and Europe” and “Development of special economic zones on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan” are leaders of the regions of Kazakhstan, major international and local companies, as well as representatives of business circles.

 

On November 7, 2013 DP World and JSC “National company “Kazakhstan temirzholy” signed the agreement, according to which DP World will provide management advisory services for the development of special economic zone "Khorgos» (Special Economic Zone - SEZ) and inland container depot (Inland Container Depot - ICD). DP World Group also provides under the terms of a separate agreement similar services for the port of Aktau on the Caspian Sea.
