WAM -- Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of State for Tolerance, confirmed the robustness of bilateral relations between the UAE and the Republic of Armenia.

This came during a meeting with Armen Gevorgyan, the President's Chief of Staff today in Abu Dhabi to discuss joint cooperation prospects and issues related to the promotion of mutual respect, tolerance, understanding and cooperation to enhance strategic areas of interest for the two countries.

Sheikha Lubna pointed out the UAE's seven pillars for tolerance which are based on Islam, the UAE Constitution, the late Sheikh Zayed's Legacy and Ethics of the UAE, International Conventions, Archeology and History, Humanity, and Common Values, during the meeting.

Sheikha Lubna also showcased the UAE National Tolerance Programme's five main themes: strengthening the government's role as an incubator of tolerance, consolidating the role of the family in nation building, promoting tolerance among young people and preventing them from fanaticism and extremism, enriching scientific and cultural content, and integrating international efforts to promote tolerance and highlight the leading role of the UAE in this area.

Mr. Gevorgyan underlined the depth of historical relations between the UAE and Armenia in many common areas that broaden the mutual benefit and prosperity of the states.

The Chief of Staff expressed his appreciation for the leading role the Emirates has played as a tolerant nation, alluding to the importance of tolerance, love and coexistence in all societies, especially within education systems, where the application of these pillars in educational curricula and best practices will lead to upholding these noble humanitarian values.

The meeting was attended by Gegham Gharibjanian, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the UAE, Mher Mkrtumyan, Counsellor - Political, Economic and Cultural Affairs, and Yousef Al-Nuaimi from the Minister of State for Tolerance's office.
